I designed them, and then I painted them, but YOU created these beautiful needlepoint tapestries.
It’s been a few years since I set up the site, and now I’m proudly and happily starting to receive photos and testimonials of your finished tapestries.
WELL DONE TO ALL OF YOU!
Sharon O. from Minnesota writes:
“Dear Sylvia,
I received your beautiful canvas today. It's just lovely, and I have a lot of work ahead of me. When I finish, have the cushion made, and it's in Mary and Jeff's home, I'll send a picture. I hope my work lives up to your design. I'll have to get the yarn this weekend, and then my work begins.
Thank you so much for all your careful work on our behalf. Regards, Sharon”
Sharon has now beautifully stitched the tapestry, and has sent these photos of the seat cover completed as promised, with these kind words:
“Dear Sylvia,
One of the main highlights (of the family Christmas) was the first showing of your beautiful design on the cushion.
It turned out well, I think.
I was thinking of you … hope you are pleased with how the project turned out. Thank you so much for all your work and warmth to our family.

This large TABRIZ project was a wonderful team effort!
Shona, from Australia, commissioned us to create a custom design of the Tabriz pattern for a built-in seat/storage bench almost 10 feet long!
We hand-painted the approved design in 3 panels for ease of painting and stitching.
She then had a friend and amazing ‘stitcher’, Yvonne, painstakingly and patiently stitch it. Thank you, Yvonne! A professional upholsterer blocked and finished it to a very high standard!
A great success!
Shona writes:
“Hi Sylvia,
Everyone who comes is full of praise. It really makes the room a great deal better….. They are an heirloom and they really enrich our house for us. I am so very happy with them……. Thank you so much for all that hard work of hand-painting that you did.
Very warm wishes,
Shona”
Using our classic Tabriz central panel, Our client, Elizabeth B. from Arizona, chose to use the counted border on the sides of her piano bench, with a repeat of elements from the central motif for the pattern at the ends.
She writes,
‘Everyone who sees your design is amazed at how wonderful your work is…. Thank you again for everything.’
She made a separate cushion with tapered edges and used straps to secure it to the seat.

Barbara R. from Miami,, Florida writes:
“Good morning, Sylvia,
Finally got everything assembled and in order and started stitching. I must
tell you that in over 70 years of embroidering, cross stitching, etc., I have
never had a more perfect "design kit" to work from. Usually I had to
improvise or modify but this time you have provided answers before I asked the
question. Great incentive to make my part of the project as perfect as
yours. It is fun and exciting to stitch this beautiful design. Thank you. Will
give you progress reports.
Best,
Barbara”
Wow! Thanks so much, Barbara!
BARBARA'S KIT........
In the photo below of the completed kit, please note that charts of the border are provided instead of painting it.
Barbara has promised to send photos when it’s finished. Can’t wait!
BARBARA HAS NOW FINISHED!
Hi, Sylvia,
My friends in the knitting group and the Embroiderers Guild have been encouraging and cheering me on as I stitched your fabulous design for the past several years and it is now finished!
The artist who blocked it gave me a wonderful fabric for the back - complements both the design and colors - although of course both sides are not seen at the same time.
I truly enjoyed this project and appreciate your precise and thorough instructions which made the stitching a pleasure.
Sincerely,
Barbara
I'm very pleased for Barbara! She will be sending more photos of how the piano bench pad was finished. STAY TUNED!
Nancy H. from Lincoln Nebraska writes:
“Hi, Sylvia,
I received my needlepoint canvas today and it is beautiful! I can't wait to get
started on it. I realize that this will be a lengthy process and I look forward
to the challenge. You did a wonderful job and I also appreciate all of the
instructions that you included.
Nancy”
Now the needlepoint tapestry is finished, and Nancy writes:
“Hi, Sylvia,
I have had several gatherings in our home this spring and I have gotten a lot of compliments on my piano bench cushion. I also took it to my piano teacher's house and she loved it. You did a lovely design and I hope that someday that one of my grandchildren might use it in their home.
Nancy”
Nancy is now working on two matching cushions to go with her Tabriz piano bench!
Starr S. (in photo) from Georgia, writes:
“Hi Sylvia,
Finally finished and framed. The mat is deep burgundy suede and the frame is flat black with a thin line of polished black around the edges.
The columns were stitched in a slanted Gobelin and the bottoms of the colors were done in Nobuko. I used a silk by a company called Planet Earth. It's a thicker twist with a strong color saturation.
Thank
you so much; we love it as does everyone who has seen it.
Starr”
Karen B. (in photo) from Arizona, writes:
‘Dear Sylvia,
The bag turned out lovely. I will send you some pics this week. Warmest thanks, Karen’
ALSO
The same ‘Dutch Iris’ handbag design is being worked on by Constance W., from Fort Myers Florida, who writes:
“Dear Sylvia,
It is very beautiful and so well presented with all the instructions. I am looking forward to showing it to my needlepoint friends and I will let you know how it comes out. I will no doubt do business with you again. I really like the personal touch that you give. Connie ”
Shelley and Burt K. from Florida, write:
‘Hi Sylvia.
‘We are delighted with the final product. What do you think?
And, of course, that is my lovely wife modelling the bag.
Thanks for your work and we are very pleased.’
Best regards, Burt’
Peg B’s family from California writes:
“Dear Sylvia,
My "in-laws", Peg and Jim B. asked me to email these pictures to you.
Peg used your hand painted canvas to make a gorgeous piano bench cover for us.
It really is quite beautiful… It makes a great addition to our house.
Thanks so much,
David”
Bev S. from Canterbury, UK writes:
Hi Sylvia,
‘I really love the free designs in your newsletters.
I’m sending you this photo of the glasses case I made as a gift for a friend. I lined it with a red felt fabric. You had it shown in your newsletter as a panel for a small tote bag, but it was also a perfect size for a glasses case!
I’m now going to look at your other free designs to see what I can work on next. Thank you. Bev’
All your needlepoint tapestries are stunning!
Thanks for sending your photos and testimonials.
I’m looking forward to adding more of your beautiful needlepoint tapestries as you create them!
