These festive napkin rings add the finishing touch to your table for an informal lunch or brunch with friends!

With this vibrant design in a rainbow of bright cotton colours, you can rotate the colours anywhere you want to match the napkin colours you have.

Or you may want to do just one range of colours and repeat the colours around the entire napkin ring. Your choice.

I have a lot of different napkin colours for entertaining at brunches or lunches, so I wanted a napkin ring to go with them all!

As an interior designer, I’ve observed that the more colours used, and the brighter the colours, the more informal the feeling.

So a rainbow of bright colours was just what was needed for a casual dining setting.

Also that’s why I decided to have two different background colours for the needlepoint napkin rings… one a dark teal blue (see photo above)...
and one a medium grey, to give them a totally different ‘look’ and also to add to the informality.

This ‘Like a Rainbow’ napkin ring design is the perfect festive touch for informal lunches, barbeques, etc.

There are many options for finishing the edges of your needlepoint tapestry.

In VIVA ZIVA! Newsletter #1004, I’ll discuss several possible methods using actual projects from this site as examples.

 

Specifically for your free design to stitch this time, I’ll show you how to edge the napkin rings with a simple edge stitch.

I decided to make the edging colours part of the design. Each edge is stitched in a different colour to add to the informal feeling to the napkin rings.

The classic basketweave stitch is used for the rest of the napkin ring design. Click here if you want more instructions on the basketweave stitch.
