The graceful lines of this needlepoint belt design completes the tasteful satin ensemble our model is wearing.

As a contrast to the harmonious greens and blue-greens of the surrounding leaves, the Black Narcissus bud has been embellished with small purple beads. (See photo at top of page)

You could just stitch one part of the design, and leave off the beads, to give your simple day dress a stylish accent as shown in the photo at the left.

THE EYELET STITCH

---

As you can see from this close-up photo of the Narcissus Bud, there is a new stitch to add to your repertoire, called the EYELET STITCH.

It adds a dramatic burst of purple to the black background of the flower bud.

And the purple beads add the finishing touch to the black narcissus!

I’ve also included a stitch you may recognize from ZIVA’s newsletter #1007…the Gobelin Stitch

This stitch provides additional interest to the tapestry, by emphasizing the shapes of some of the leaves, giving the background more depth and texture.

Then you could pin it on your basic black dress, as shown here, by our model.
